A long and tiring day culminated in KweKwe K'beya, my lovely "Storm",
being placed 2nd in a large Open Class!!

Three Generations of KweKwe |
Hi,
we are Sid and Pat Thorne, welcome to our web site. Having been involved
with Ridgebacks for over twenty years, our first encounter with this
wonderful breed was in 1982 while staying with relatives at KweKwe in
Zimbabwe, Africa, the breeds ancestral home.
Three
long years passed before in 1985 Shumba of Kwe "Bruno" came
into our lives, our first Ridgeback. Two years later having become
totally smitten with the breed we decided to have a bitch and Tembiwe
Nyoni "Kala" came home to join Bruno. Kala became the
foundation bitch of the KweKwe Kennel which was named after the place
where we were first captivated by these marvellous creatures.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I
have to inform you of the tragic and all too early passing of my darling
husband Sid. After a long battle with debilitating disease he slipped
quietly away on Saturday 9th January 2010.
Sid came into ridgebacks somewhat later than I but quickly made up for
lost time. Wanting to keep a dog to show from our second litter he
handled Ch Kwekwe Kiko to his title. Kiko was his pride and joy.
Sid became a committee member of the Midlands & Northern Rhodesian
Ridgeback Club and was instrumental in the setting up Midlands &
Northern Rescue.
 In
later years nothing pleased Sid more than to have Kiko’s niece, our
gentle and loving Kika, sit at his side for a fuss and treats.
Sid, both I and the girls miss you greatly, thank you for the last 53
happy years; until we meet again,
